normvz > "Gotcha ... No, I got you"
Day 229, Sunday, October 18

The largest of the local Wetlands is called Green Cay. There is a mile and a half of boardwalk... mostly over shallow water. As I came to the end of my walk, I saw a crowd of 15-20 photographers at one location. Must be the Spoonbills I thought, as I had captured them in the same location earlier this week.

As I got closer I saw two gators about 30 feet from the side of the boardwalk. One had the other my the neck ...and the other had one by the tail. I was told I missed about an hour of battle on the shore, but now they were in the water holding each other in a stand-off. We all watched for about 45 more minutes with little action except minor positioning. Then, timed with a couple of claps of thunder in the distance, all hell broke loose.

In 40 seconds it was over... but only one gator was visible as the water settled. Then we saw the loser about 10 yards to our right... swimming away from the battle field.

I have deleted the photos with nothing but water splashing... which were most of the captures... but to see them in battle CLICK HERE

Tomorrow I'll step away from the Wetlands for something different...

Day 194, Sunday, September 13

When I passed this gentlemen on a country road, I just had to turn around.
I did ....passed him.... turned around again... pulled to the side of the road and waited. He was coming uphill.....slowly.

I don't know where he was coming from.... or going to.... but the message is still the same.
I thought it appropriate for Sunday.

normvz > Day 72, May 14 ... "No Gas Today"

I tried to post this last night...but no connection at my current camp... I'm not sure if I'm in northern Georgia or have passed into North Carolina. Doesn't matter. No connection and I understand Smugmug was down for a while anyway.

Passed this forgotten gas station somewhere on SR 441 in Georgia. The back door was opened, so I went in and looked around. What a mess. Not everybody cleans everything out when they leave. Was probably a nice little home and business years ago.

The sun was coming up from the back of the house, so it was hard to get the view directly from the front with the sun directly into the cameras lens. I like this side view showing the fireplace and little room off the back.

Got to get this on.... will post again this evening, Norm

Day 33, Mile 7200 to 7600
Cathys

I have arrived at my sister Cathys house in Ohio. Comfortable....

I was showing Cathy about Smugmug and how I process photos and post them as my daily.

I was using this train photo as am example (taken somewhere along the way).... how to show words and make frames. Turns out.....We liked it and I decided to use it as my daily. Don't know if "smoke" was the right choice.....He was coming toward me at about 30 miles an hour. This was the last of 6 shots I took as he approached me.

Day 260, Wednesday, November 18

The Little Blue Heron is NOT a baby Great Blue Heron.

Compared to the 46 inches tall Great Blue Heron, the Little Blue is only 24 inches tall.... the same as Tri-Colored Herons, Little Egrets and Snowy Egrets.
The Little Blue is probably the least admired because he is dull and plain in color.
I think he is more grayish... than blue... with a purple tint around the throat.

Tomorrow I will share the experience I had with a pair of Great Blue Herons building their nest.
